San Antonio is painting streets in ten locations to crate cooling pavement.
Dr. John Hooker, an environmental science professor at University of the Incarnate Word, said: "As the climate is predicted to warm in the coming years to decades, certainly the idea of it is a really cost effective and energy effective way of battling those extreme temperatures."
Researchers with UTSA will provide numbers on how well the cooling pavement works in a few months, then the city will choose what kind they'll use in the long term.
